Senegal FA Clarifies Viral Video of Team Security Screening in US

(MENAFN) The Senegal Football Federation has issued clarification after a viral video showed members of the Senegal national team undergoing security checks upon arriving in the United States ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to reports.

The federation said the footage had caused confusion online, with some claims suggesting the screening took place after the team’s arrival in San Antonio, Texas.

“Contrary to some reports, the security screening did not take place upon the team's arrival in San Antonio. Rather, it was conducted during boarding at Raleigh airport on Sunday, June 7, 2026, before the flight's departure,” the federation said in a statement.

It explained that the team had traveled directly from their hotel in Raleigh, North Carolina to the airport by bus under a special arrangement that allowed them to proceed straight to the aircraft on the tarmac.

According to the statement, players and staff completed all required security and police procedures at the aircraft itself, rather than going through standard terminal and public boarding areas, which contributed to the misunderstanding surrounding the video.
